Colour temperature describes the visual appearance of white light. Buyers often describe it as warm, neutral or cool white, but the exact Kelvin range and availability should be checked for the selected product.
Compare samples in the actual space
The room finish, natural daylight, wall colour, merchandise and surrounding fixtures affect how light appears. A sample viewed in a warehouse or on a phone screen may look different from a sample installed in the final space. When consistency matters, compare samples in the same lighting conditions.
Match the visual tone to the task
Warm-looking light is often chosen where a relaxed atmosphere is desired. Neutral-looking white may suit some everyday work and retail environments. Cool-looking white is used in some task and commercial settings. These are starting points rather than fixed rules; comfort, colour rendering, glare and the actual design also matter.
Check more than the Kelvin number
Two products with a similar colour temperature can render colours differently. If product appearance is important, ask for verified colour-rendering information and review representative materials under the selected fitting. In offices or specialist spaces, consider flicker information, dimming compatibility and other requirements specified by the designer.
Keep a consistent schedule
For one project or a group of retail locations, list the required colour option per room and fitting type. Make sure quotations, purchase orders and replacement orders use the same approved configuration. Do not assume a colour option is available across every model.
Before placing the order
Confirm the selected model, available colour temperature, quantity, electrical details, mounting type and any required driver or accessory. If the project has a lighting specification, use that document as the source of truth.
