LED strip systems depend on matching the strip, power supply, connections and installation method. A strip that appears similar may require a different voltage or driver, so confirm the exact product information before ordering.
Read the specification for the exact strip
Record the rated voltage, power per metre or roll, LED density if specified, colour type, cut interval, maximum recommended run and indoor or outdoor suitability. Do not infer voltage or power from the product name alone; ask for the current datasheet if the listing is unclear.
Match the power supply
The driver's output voltage must match the strip requirement, and its rated capacity should be selected using the strip load and the manufacturer's guidance. Long runs can experience voltage drop, uneven brightness or extra heat if the layout is not planned correctly. An installer should calculate the load, cable sizing and injection points for the actual run.
Plan the physical installation
Measure total length, corners, joints, aluminium profiles, covers, connectors and access for service. Confirm whether the strip can be cut at the required points and whether the selected profile provides adequate space and heat management for that product.
Check the environment
Indoor cabinets, coves, shops, kitchens and outdoor features have different moisture, dust and cleaning conditions. Use the verified product and connector ratings for the intended location, and ensure all joints and power supplies are suitable for their installation environment.
Include controls and colour requirements
If dimming, colour changing or automation is needed, confirm protocol compatibility and the complete parts list before purchase. Avoid mixing controllers, drivers and strips without documented compatibility.
Before requesting a quote
Provide the strip type, voltage, total length, desired colour, power requirements, profile/accessories, driver location and installation environment. A clear list allows the supplier and installer to review the correct combination and avoid substitutions that do not match the plan.
